ex-INTERN -- a new poem -- by Hal Bogotch

ex-INTERN

by Hal Bogotch

Shut out
left out
locked out
clocked out
give a shout out
to center, right, and left out

blocked out
turned out
who put the lights out

after a hard start downtown
it smarts to feel smacked down
mighty teen angst
pounds out big sound
on big momma bass drum
whack 'n' take a crack

hit it like no turnin' back
what we gotta give
oughta be acceptable

gift from heart
immeasurable
givin' time and life
no magazine
no book o' the month club
readin' & digestin'

fast-forwardin' the overdub
what we tryin' to say
in a rhythmic way

is when you get no welcome mat
you ain't gotta take that
go find a place to express
it might come from pen or mouth
findin' freedom north & south
bust on out

no need to tie up
all the loose ends
nothin' glitters like friends.

All we are saying, is give Pence a chance! (Sorry, John & Yoko.)
